Meeting with MPI’s Chairman

On EIBTM’s exhibition, we got the great opportunity to meet an important MPI member from Switzerland M. Sebastian Tondeur, as he is the Chairman of MPI International Executive Committee.

Meeting Professionals International is a professional community for the Global Meetings Industry and Event which count over 23 000 members coming from 20 different countries. The association was based on the high impact of networking.

M.Tondeur is also a chief executer officer of MCI group which is a huge event agency known all over the world. The company offers several services such as strategy, creativity and execution in the field of association management (AMC), Congress and Exhibition (PCO), live communication, meetings, events, incentives and performance improvement programs. MCI helps companies, governments and associations bringing people together to create meaningful connections.

Sebastian made an MBA management so he has a different approach than us, students in MBA MICE. While we think about the emotion of an event, he thinks more about the economic impacts. He made us realized that the world of the meeting industry includes many sectors as communication, human resources, creativity, financial (…) and many more that need to be considered.

His advice to succeed in professional and personal life is to make plans and follow them. Indeed, he has perpetual objectives for the next 5 years or 10 years and sticks to them. We can see that it has been successful for him; actually he became the headmaster of the multinational MCI group, the president of the important MPI association and was named Ernst and young entrepreneur award of the year 2011. 

This meeting of one hour gave us another vision of the MICE industry and especially great advices from a glorious businessman.
